The River Will Become Blood

My mother called me today telling me “Joelle did you hear about the river that turned Blood Red, it was on the news a couple of days ago.” I had to admit to her I had not, but I told her “Good eye mom.” She said to me, all excited, it’s another sign that Jesus is coming back soon. I agreed and shared in the joy of that prospect that he truly is on his way and this is another sign proving just that. This river isn’t truly “blood”, though I noted to her that there is a day coming when that will actually happen.

“And the second angel poured out his vial upon the sea; and it became as the blood of a dead man: and every living soul died in the sea.
And the third angel poured out his vial upon the rivers and fountains of waters; and they became blood.
And I heard the angel of the waters say, Thou art righteous, O Lord, which art, and wast, and shalt be, because thou hast judged thus.
For they have shed the blood of saints and prophets, and thou hast given them blood to drink; for they are worthy.
And I heard another out of the altar say, Even so, Lord God Almighty, true and righteous are thy judgments.” Rev 16:3-7

I take great comfort in these words because they declare why God has promised this miracle will transpire. The people referred to in the prophecy are those who have taken the ‘mark of the beast’ during the tribulation. For they have shed the blood of saints and prophets, they are all murderers of God’s people, so they get to drink blood. I think back to the scriptures of the prophets and apostles that were murdered at the hands of men and say how fitting and just God is. His judgments are perfect.

When we walk according to God’s will then the world and everyone that’s entrenched in the world will come against us. Just like they did to all those who walked according to faith that have come before us. There will be all kinds of pressures to conform to its demands, to give up faith in Christ, to shuffle your feet about the truth, and lie to neighbors about what one knows about prophecy. The world wants to dictate what people should do, what one should think and how to get by without standing up for the truth. Whoever goes against the world is a troublemaker. “As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.” Rom 8:36

Man has been warned to not be friends with the world. The Lord does not want us to go along with it. We need to trust him to deliver us from every evil. The world is not only God’s enemy; it is ours also. The world does not care about you, but God does; one must give Him a chance to help us be safe. God has sent his only begotten son to die for your sins that you might attain eternal life.

Jesus comes to encourage us if we turn to him. We can overcome the world because Jesus said the following:

“.., know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? Whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God”. James 4:4
“These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.” John 16:33

“For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.” 1 John 5:4

This phenomenon of a blood red river is a portend and sign of enmity between God and those who have denied His love and trusted in the violence and gospel of Man’s selfish assertions and belief that ‘might makes right’.

But there is no reason, with Christ’s help, that one cannot escape the wrath that is to come. People actually can turn to Jesus, listen to him, and do what he says. They can bathe in the crystal clear waters of his love and the red river of His blood (which he shed not against us but for us) at the same time. This world is going to be judged; consider what he suggests we do to avoid the flood of coming blood-red judgment.
